The annual marmalade making has begun. The purist in me was looking for Seville oranges but to no avail…thank goodness! The sicilian oranges are much cheaper (stalls selling them now on every main road in the area for next to nothing) and – here is the good bit – NO PIPS!! I had never really thought of the implications of pipless fruit until now (and the purist is still not overly happy) but I am converted. Just need to find enough jars for marmalade from 8 kilos of oranges! Just for interest’s sake, I am using the recipe from Riverford organics which has slightly less sugar in than most recipes which we prefer. I think there are enough oranges for there to be plenty left for you in May Julian!!

And yes, it is the same picture again…I like it!
